Italian Pure Vowels
/a ɛ e i ɔ o u/Accent-Specific Coaching
For American Speakers
Italian has 7 vowels — all pure, never reduced. 'A' = 'ah', 'E' = 'eh' or 'é', 'I' = 'ee', 'O' = 'oh' or 'ò', 'U' = 'oo'. Never let them slide or become 'uh'.
For British Speakers
Italian vowels are pure. No gliding, no reduction. Your RP vowels may already be cleaner than American ones.
For Australian / NZ Speakers
Keep vowels pure and short. Don't let 'o' become 'ow' or 'e' become 'ay'. Every vowel stays exactly the same.
For Irish Speakers
Italian vowels are pure and consistent. Your Irish English vowels may already be closer to Italian than RP.
For Scottish Speakers
Your monophthong vowels map beautifully to Italian. Keep them pure: a=ah, e=eh, i=ee, o=oh, u=oo.
For Indian Speakers
Your clear vowel distinctions match Italian perfectly. Don't reduce unstressed vowels — which you naturally don't do anyway.
For South African Speakers
Keep vowels pure: a=ah, e=eh, i=ee, o=oh, u=oo. No sliding, no changing. Consistent every time.
For Nigerian / W. African Speakers
Your pure vowel system IS the Italian vowel system. This is your biggest advantage — you already produce all 7 Italian vowels naturally.
